First Mares Scanned In Foal To The National Stud's Mutasaabeq

Mutasaabeq | The National Stud

The first mares covered by the National Stud's Mutasaabeq (GB) have been scanned in foal. The triple Group 2-winning son of Invincible Spirit (Ire) boasts a stellar pedigree and the first mare scanned in foal to him is two-time winner Krona (GB) Sea The Moon (Ger).

“We are delighted with the quality of mares that Mutasaabeq is covering, his physique, sireline and depth of pedigree really underline the value he provides for breeders,” said The National Stud's head of bloodstock, Joe Bradley.

“His book includes stakes winners such as Chain of Daisies (GB) (Rail Link {GB}) and sisters to stakes winners as well as proven mares, so he will have every chance to make an impact with his first crop of foals.”

Mutasaabeq's performances on the track peaked at a Timeform rating of 122. His tenacity and front-running style was at its most eye-catching at Newmarket, where he won three Group 2s over a mile.

Another sire with his first mares in foal is multiple group winner Lusail (Ire), who has his first three mares covered pronounced pregnant, Al Shaqab announced on Thursday. Stakes winner and dual Group 3-placed Baileys Showgirl (Fr) (Sepoy {Aus}), War Story (Fr) (Sunday Break {Jpn}), and Evertogether (Ire) (Kodiac {GB}) are all carrying to the G2 Gimcrack S. hero.

Other mares already covered in his book include Asanda (Ire) (Lilbourne Lad {Ire}), out of a half-sister to Group 1 Classic winner Cockney Rebel (Ire) (Val Royal {Fr}); Texanne (Fr) (Sunday Break {Jpn}), a full-sister to top-level winner Never On Sunday (Fr) (Sunday Break {Jpn}); Shalfah (Fr) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}), a daughter of a Classic and Group 1 performer; Shaloisi (Fr) (Air Chief Marshall {Ire}) a sister to Group 1 winner Aristia (Ire) (Starspangledbanner {Aus}); and Sans Appel (Fr) (Fastnet Rock {Aus}) and Kenzahope (Fr) (Kendargent {Fr}), who are both sisters to Group 1 horses.

Lusail, who was twice Group 1-placed and also a winner of the G2 July S., stands at Haras de Bouquetot for €6,000 in France this year.
